November 2021, pulled shoes and set up trim
The red outlines the current distorted hoof capsule. The green outlines the future I distorted hoof capsule. The blue arrows and line show the forces acting on the hoof capsule that are causing the distortion. The red line at the tip of the coffin bone ( estimated position ) denotes estimated bone loss from chronic toe loading.
The red arrows are pointing to the curves that are a sign of distortion and contributions to a flat sole. The green arrow is pointing to the curve that should be there instead. This quarter arch should only follow the peripheral edge of the calloused live sole. Forcing it prematurely weakens the foot and doesn’t fix the problem.

April 2022 - 4.5 months progress. This last trim went a little over 8 weeks but he is still making progress. In my experience, if you’re trimming is good, you can get away with a long interval here and there but not back to back.
