This is 9 months progress building the back of the foot. The line created by the widest part of the frog divides the hard insensitive heel horn from the soft sensitive heel bulbs. Rolling the heel horn tight to the seat of corn and properly shaping the heel purchases and frog distal to this line ( lower blue line ) builds the digital cushion and lateral cartilages proximal to the widest part of the frog ( outlined in green ).

Sometimes it’s hard to find a common reference point when comparing images over time. I usually use the widest part of the frog where the collateral grooves end at the heels but this time I used the vertical line of the central sulcus. I aligned that to be parallel with the vertical frames of the photo for consistency. I’m focusing on a few things here: 1. The improved symmetry of the foot | 2. The improved depth between the widest part of the frog and the highest point of the hairline at the medial and lateral sides of the foot. | 3. The ascension of the internal arch and improved depth of live sole | These factors all relate to each other when “building” a foot. Rather than just using lines, I traced the palmar contours as well. This helps see changes in development ( volume ). The way I assess progress here is by comparing the green shaded areas on the left with the green shaded areas on the right. I am also comparing the spaces between and around the shade areas. The shapes are just as important as the measurements and angles when assessing progress in development
