This short video shows how I trim the hoof when it presents with a ridge of sole around the edge.
This short video was filmed in the afternoon at one of the Australian clinics, and shows how I would roll the wall tighter around the toe, and the reasoning behind that decision.
In my opinion there shouldn’t be acute pressure at the sole between the toe contact points. The coffin bone is thin and vulnerable in this area and there’s very little flexion or shock absorption here. This area should be relieved of pressure when the foot is at rest and especially during break over. This video shows one of the techniques I use to achieve that slight saddle between the toe pillars.
