Lee (dbL)
September 2020 - Pulled shoes and set up to go bare
October 2020 - Second trim
The pink lines are what I envision for this horse’s future. We need to stop thinking about attaching things to their feet to make up for lack of soft tissue and live sole depth and start taking advantage of the horse’s natural regenerative abilities. This is possible. Fear and doubt get in the way. My plan is not to grow out the heels. It’s to rebuild the foot from the inside out. ETA...2 years.

Lee lives in a 15 X 30 half covered/ half open stall. The covered side is bedded in rice hulls. The open side is bedded in sand. Boots are only being used for dressage lessons at this time. She has Easy Care Cloud boots for a back up plan if she gets sore at any time later in the rehab.
These are pre trim/post trim on her left hind. Her hinds weren’t shod. They were a little over trimmed right before I started but they’ve grown in well in just a few trims.
